Just figured I should put out an update to show that I'm still alive. Yep, I'm still working on that story. A little more slowly than I would have wanted to, but at least I'm making progress faster than with the last one. I've almost finished first drafts of the next two chapters (chapter 2 is a small one though), but I'll be a while before they're in a good enough state to post.

This is quite a writing speed improvement over my last stories. I usually put about six months in between each chapter before, and now I have it down to about one, lol.

One thing though. I've been pondering if I should be sending copies of my first few chapters to publishers before posting them here. That's because they might prefer stories that weren't posted on the internet, lol. Honestly, I think the chance that a real publisher would actually like the story is very very low, I've been reading all sorts of horror stories about dealing with them, but it would certainly be preferable to self publishing.

If I do that, it'll be a while before you guys see the next chapter, but I promise that I am working on them and you'll see them eventually, lol.

Edit: I recently commissioned a picture of Darion's dragon form from =KaiserFlames, part because she's an amazing artist, and partly because I needed to get a new perspective on what he should look like. I LOVE how he came out :D

Hah, too bad it isn't really a secret what he's going to become in a few chapters, but I intend to try and surprise everyone with the how and why, in addition to what it leads to.

Well, usually with publishers, you have to have a summary of the entire novel to give to them, as well, along with a few other things. There's a looooot of loops to go through concerning publishing, as I'm sure you're fully aware of. It takes time, sure, but eventually, you'll find someone if you're interested in publishing.

Anyway, a friend of mine was looking to publish her novel, too, and when she decided to do it, all she did was take down the chapters before she sent in her proposal. So no biggie on that one.

Nice to hear that you manage to speed up your work.
Absolutly clueles. But I doupt that they will have any interest in not even halfway finished work. Maybe you should only post one of three chapters you finish so that once you reache the halwaymark there is not to mutch puplished already.

I can only hope that you succeed with this :p. If you can, then I might have a fighting chance later in life :p. I think the more unique your book is, the more chance it will stand out as more than another dragon story. By God, Christopher Paloni sells, you should be able too as well :p.

Never hurts to send them in. But all authors get rejection letters. Its part of the right of passage to being published, You just have to keep trying.

Some of Chuck Palahinuk's books took years to get published, for instance: after the success of Fight Club, Haunted which Norton had previously refused to published was published as a source of revenue from Palahinuk fans but ended up becoming a hit also.
I also find that confidence in your writing usually helps, as it does with most real life situations.

Hah, Paloni had the advantage of having parents who were major publishers. Once a book is put into a spotlight like that, it is pretty guaranteed to sell XD
